Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one address, but to seem as being sent from a different, generally with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a specific record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world have it. The record contains all the email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an email address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be forwarded and it will be discarded. In case you use this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam e-mails that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This option offers you the best degree of safety, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are handled in another place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to employ the SPF protection feature as part of the standard collection of services that you will receive with this kind of hosting. Starting the protection will require just a couple of easy steps inside the Hepsia Control Panel, therefore even in case you've never used such a feature before, you will not have any problems. Through a really time and effort saving interface, you'll only need to input the information of the mail server which will be authorized to send out messages from your email addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). The moment the recently created record propagates, nobody will be able to counterfeit any email for that particular domain and send out messages from a server different from the one you have entered. This does not necessarily have to be our mail server, but if we take care of your email messages, you'll be able to enable one more level of protection by selecting an option that e-mail messages can be send from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support crew can assist you 24/7 if you have any questions about this service.
